Struggling in School? Help your child overcome attention and focus issues

There is an alternative solution to attention and focus issues your doctor won’t tell you about.
Help is available in the Fair Hope and Mobile areas of Alabama.
Attention and focus issues are often diagnosed as ADD and ADHD. And sadly, the most common option recommend to treat it is with medications like Adderall or Ritalin. But those only temporarily reduce their symptoms.
In reality, they are either neurostimulants or act by altering neurotransmitters in the brain. This may cause a child to feel uncomfortable and have a variety of well documented side effects.
It was also found in a UC Berkley study that using Ritalin over the long term may make the brain more susceptible to cocaine addiction and doubled the likelihood that the user will abuse drugs.
So what are the alternatives?
Brain based or cognitive therapy takes a different approach.
The difference between treating ADHD with medication, and fundamentally improving brain function with neurofeedback, are profound:
ADHD Medication
- The brain is chemically altered from the outside
- Affects entire central nervous system
- Dependency and rebound effects
- Appetite loss, sleep issues, irritability
- Improvements require continuing treatment
- No long term evidence of efficacy
Neurofeedback
- The brain is directed to change itself
- Targets specific brain areas and networks
- Gradual but progressive change
- No side effects
- Improvements continue after treatment
- Improvements appear to endure
How Our Program Works
The therapy that is provided at this facility has three main goals:
- Restore Healthy Brain Wave Activity
- Address underlying nutritional imbalances
- Strengthen weak brain lobe function
One effective tool we use at Alabama Brain Health is neurofeedback. It is a computer based system with over 6 decades of successful research and real world use.
Neurofeedback works non-invasively, by helping the brain self-regulate. Your child simply watches a movie while the system monitors the brain and makes adjustments to keep the brain in normal ranges. After multiple sessions, the brain can learn to self regulate on its own and no more sessions are needed. It really is that simple!
The first step is to request a free online evaluation, or to come in for a non-invasive brain map. This will help us better determine the issues and make recommendations based on accurate personalized data.
